I'm a costumer, dancer, wanderer, and more.
I've gone to Renaissance Festivals since I was 7 or 8 years old with my family and later my friends. We mainly went to the Sterling Forest (Tuxedo) Renaissance Festival and the Pennsylvania Renaissance Festival, though we made a trip or two to the faires in Syracuse and Maryland.
For a few years, I was a member of the SCA and part of the Moon and Star Dance Troop. We performed at a number of events before I had to leave the group due to time constraints.
I worked at the Maryland Renaissance Festival (MDRF) for a season as a belly dancer and street actor. I later became a boothie for seven seasons, working in Mom Crosewl's Magic Shop, where we sold magic tricks and wands.
I've been sewing renaissance garb since I was 16, though I was handstitching small items for festival use well before that. I've sewn for customers, family, friends, and organizations (mainly LARP) a couple years after that and have built a solid reputation that led to many repeat requests and orders. I try to mix various elements into the garb I make, while being sure to remain practical and 'realistic' in appearance. I try very hard to avoid a cookie cutter or cartoonish look to my garb. "Something that could have existed," is what I aim for. I hope to start sewing garb for sale and barter again.
Anyways, that's the intro. Hope it wasn't overly boring.
